The Gracie Regionals Returns to
TheFitExpo™ Chicago June 25-26
at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center
(Rosemont, IL…June 20, 2016) - Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling athletes from around the country will compete in The Gracie Regionals in conjunction with Chicago’s largest fitness event, the second annual TheFitExpo™, Saturday and Sunday, June 25-26, 2016 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N. River Road, Rosemont, Hall G.
“We are honored to once again host The Gracie Regionals at our Chicago Expo,” said TheFitExpo Executive Director, Erin Ferries. “As a crowd favorite, Rose Gracie’s events always feature top level athletes who display a true passion and dedication for their sport.”
Rose Gracie, The Gracie Regionals founder and producer, made significant changes to the rules of both adult and children’s competitions at the Gracie US Nationals in January 2012. Her desire is to support the original Jiu-Jitsu that her grandfather, Grandmaster Helio Gracie, envisioned from the beginning where matches can only be won by submissions, with no points or judges.
On Saturday, a Super Fights will take place, submission only - no time limits. The first is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. and features a battle between regional circuit favorites Nikki Sullivan and Amber Kamischke. “They are both amazing athletes with nice technique, so this will be fun to watch,” says, Rose Gracie.
The Gracie Tournaments will also take place on Saturday, with Gi‘s scheduled from 10:00 – 2:00 p.m. and No-Gi’s from 2:15-6:00 p.m.
Registration to compete in The Gracie Regionals ends on June 23. More information can be found at www.gracieworlds.com.
On Sunday, TheFitExpo attendees can hone in on their Jiu-Jitsu skills as well as learn the different angles of the sport when experts provide a day of fun and interactive workshops.
