9:00 am-10:30 am Respect the Connection Lecture and Hands-on by Brian Nguyen
This session is about connecting to yourself to better connect to your clients. For, if you cannot deal with your own desires and fears, how can you truly coach another through theirs? This will open dialogue concerning the soul of coaching and the nature of human connection. This topic will provide insight on both fitness and business ends. Hands-on workout: self-limiting tools in various "playful" scenarios
10:30 am-12:30 pm Simple Nutrition Hacks to help any Client Lose Weight and Keep it Off! by Mike Fantigrassi
Every New Year millions of people join the gym with the goal of losing weight only to either give up or lose the weight temporally and then regain it all back. In the session learn how to work with your client to identify what techniques will be most effective, how to utilize states of high motivation to create lasting change, and simple, but effective modifications to the client’s environment to automatically create the right atmosphere to lose weight for good!
12:30 pm-2:00 pm 212 degrees - Don't underestimate the power of a single degree! by Brian Nguyen
In order for real change to occur, perception must be shifted. In this session, the concept of true change, behavioral change is examined. Look into human nature and the power of the daily habit versus the once-a-week habit. As coaches, it is our responsibility to change people for the better. Let's provide the best strategies to do so. This could be in the form of homework, goal setting, or accountability sessions. This lecture will touch on topics including corrective exercise, analogies to shift perspective and thus behavior, and the reward. Hands-on workout: corrective exercises utilizing creative cueing

The NASM Saturday Sessions will be held as part of the Fitness Pro Registration Package. You will earn .5 NASM units and 5 AFAA units for participanting in any combination of NASM or Group Training Zone sessions.

NASM is the leader in Personal and Small Group Training Certifications. These workshops are will give you the tools you need to become a certified fitness trainer or grow your existing practice. The low price of $59.00 registration includes all offered sessions and entrance to TheFitExpo Hall for the Saturday event.

Group Training Zone Stage features a full day of non stop 30 minute express workout sessions. The stage will feature celebrities, popular fitness brands and lots of contests with prizes.

*Note the NASM Sessions will be held in room 309 of the LA Convention Center South Hall and all Group Ex Sessions are held at the Group Training Zone Stage on the Main Expo Hall Floor.


Mike Fantigrassi MS, NASM-CPT, CES, PES
Mike Fantigrassi is the director of professional services at NASM and an NASM master instructor. Mike is a 20+ year veteran of the fitness industry working as a fitness manager, personal trainer, and nutrition coach. At NASM Mike oversees the live education events, NASM’s master trainer program, online instructor led programs, and is a frequent subject matter expert for magazines, books, and articles. Mike received his BS in Food and Nutrition from Florida State University and holds a MS in Exercise Science in rehabilitation science from CALU.

Brian Nguyen | Certified Master Trainer, NASM / Certified Kickboxing Instructor, AMFPT-KI
Brian Nguyen is a sports medicine athletic trainer, fat loss guru, athletic performance coach, business owner and public speaker. He has worked in the fitness industry for over 20 years and has viewed the fitness and health world from all angles - from the NFL gridiron, the sets of Hollywood and now as owner/founder of BRIK Fitness in Redondo Beach, CA.

Over the years, Brian has come to realize his true path as a coach - for Brian, coaching is much more than simply specific exercises designed to work specific muscles. It's about inspiring people to do things they thought were never possible. It's about everyday movement patterns necessary in "real life" as business people, parents, grandparents, students and high performance athletes. Most importantly, coaching is about truly connecting with people and sharing his love and energy to help everyone tap into their positive mindset to achieve their greatest dreams.

In addition to working with his clients, Brian is passionate about inspiring, motivating and sharing his knowledge with other fitness coaches. He has been a NASM Master Instructor for over six years and also speaks at various global fitness conferences throughout the year. Brian currently resides in Torrance, California and in his spare time enjoys traveling internationally to experience different cultures and connect with people around the world.
